Get ready for (RED)RUSH TO ZERO, an amazing new campaign from our friends at (RED) that goes from June 1st-June 10th. The goal is to raise funding and awareness to help deliver an AIDS Free Generation by 2015. Because today, 1,000 children are born with HIV –- and by 2015, that number can be close to zero.

(RED)RUSH TO ZERO brings together brands, celebrities, gamers, music fans, empowered women and consumers around the globe to raise money for the Global Fund to fight AIDS. All of these funds will go to Global Fund grants that are helping get 1.4 million HIV-positive pregnant women on the life-saving medication that prevents the transmission of the HIV virus to their babies — pretty incredible, right?

We are proud to be partnering with (RED) to release a limited edition version of both Clocky & Tocky. As part of the (RED) family, 5% of the sale will go towards the Global Fund to fight AIDS, HIV, and Malaria.

The virtual elimination of mother-to-child transmission of HIV is part of (RED)’s eight Millennium Development Goals, which range from halving extreme poverty to halting the spread of HIV/AIDS by the target date of 2015.

“This is an attainable goal, but it isn’t a done deal,” (RED)
CEO Deborah Dugan said. “We find ourselves in a time when the global economy threatens public sector funding for this effort. Now would be the absolute worst time to take our foot off the gas and lose the momentum we have built in the fight against AIDS thanks, in large part, to the ability to provide life-saving anti-retroviral drugs to millions of people over the past decade.”

Here is a story to show how RED has already helped:

Meet Deborah. She’s a working mother with a bright smile and big dreams for the future…opening a dress shop, expanding her hair salon and watching her son grow up to be a doctor. And thanks to (RED)- financed Global Fund grants, Deborah’s future is possible. But that wasn’t always the case.

A few years ago, Deborah was very frail and frequently sick. Like many women living in the world’s poorest regions, it wasn’t until she became pregnant with her son, Desmond, that she learned she was HIV positive. Luckily for both of them, Deborah was diagnosed early and was carefully coached through her treatment. Months later, she gave birth to a healthy, HIV negative baby. “When I heard he was negative, I laughed, I cried and I sang praises…with the help of my medication, Desmond was negative”

Today, Deborah is thriving and only visits the hospital once a year. She takes her medication regularly, never missing a dose “it is so precious…because it gives me life.” Because Deborah is healthy, she can work a full day, earning enough money to feed her family and to send Desmond to school, where one day, he can learn to be a doctor.

A sick pregnant woman becomes a healthy mother to a healthy son. It’s a dream come true.
